Stone Crab Season began in Florida state waters yesterday, and while this sweet succulent meat is allowed to be harvested until May, there are a few things you need to know.

Minimum Size Limit

Stone crab claws must measure at least 2 ¾ inches in length. Learn how to measure them properly HERE.

Daily Bag Limit

Individuals are allowed to harvest 1 gallon of claws per person or 2 gallons of claws per vessel, whichever is less.

How to Harvest

The claws are the only part to be taken from a stone crab, as they grow back when separated from the body properly. The law permits both claws to be harvested if they are of legal size, but it is courtesy to only harvest one claw per crab. This practice leaves the crab with a method of defense, and

Stone crabs are a delicacy in South Florida, and federal wildlife protection agencies like FWC would like to keep them abundant. In order to do that, they’ve made a minimum size for these delicious crustacean limbs. Here’s how to measure stone crab claws.

Stone crab claws must measure at least 2 ¾-inches in length measured by a straight line from the elbow to the tip of the lower immovable finger. This is the largest section of the claw that has both a movable and immovable finger, and is located farthest from the body of the crab.

Art galleries in Palm Beach are aplenty. Here are a few you shouldn't miss out on if you appreciate visual art.

Ann Norton Scultpure Gardens

Ann Norton’s work in bronze, stone, and wood are large, monumental sculptures designed to be hidden by the immense foliage of the gardens surrounding them. Encompassed in deep South Florida history, her intention was to create a rare experience of powerful manmade art pieces juxtaposed by the natural landscape. With over 250 rare palm species, this garden holds the most vast collection of palm trees in Florida.

During the mid 17th century, legend has it that pirates found refuge 450 miles off the port of Palm Beach on the Bahamian island of Mayaguana. After long ocean voyages, they dug a well in the middle of the island in search of drinkable water, and would fill their casks before setting sail once again.

Fast forward to present day, and Pirate’s Well in Lake Park toasts to this sentiment as a friendly refuge for Northern Palm Beach locals to quench their thirst after leisurely days on the water with family and friends. Since 2010, owner Larry Marble has welcomed locals and treated them like family.

The culture of this beloved local watering hole was threatened earlier this year when the Lake Park location had to close due to an accidental
